Crown Of Kolkata : The Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial at Kolkata.

The Victoria memorial hall is dedicated in loving memory of Queen Victoria and now it’s a museum having British raj , paintings, monuments, statues, weapons, maps, coins, stamps, and some other great stuffs which let us know about history behind the Victoria memorial and people who belong to it.

Their are also many paintings about the Queen Victoria’s life.Victoria memorial museum including its beautiful gardens is spread over 64 acres long.It is the beautiful architectural work with blends of British and Mughal era of architecture. It is made of white Makrana Marbles.

The foundation stone of Victoria memorial was laid down by prince of wales in the year 1906 and it was inaugurated in the year 1921 in loving memory of Queen Victoria. It is situated on the grounds by the bank of Hoogly river near Jawaharlal Nehru road.

When we visited Kolkata it was our first priority to watch Victoria can get the idea of how beautiful it is even from the outside of the entry gate,my first reaction was ohh, it looks like Tajmahal ..!! isn’t it? As soon as you enter in to the gate you will see beautiful garden, feel the fresh breeze, neat and clean lanes for walks. We reached quiet early in the morning and we noticed many people were came here for a morning walk.

After clicking many photos of such a beautiful architectural wok which takes us to the old era of British empire,we decided to enter in to the museum .Inside photography is not allowed ,for us it was quiet disappointing but then also we enjoyed each and every thing in the museum.we got to see many things related to museum and queen Victoria.Museum is well spread in ground and first floor, from here you can enjoy the backside of the museum. We just can’t get enough of looking the museum, We wish to visit this place again and again..!!

Vintage Experince of Kolkata tramcar.

Tramcar in Kolkata

If you are visiting Kolkata don’t forget to take heritage ride of Kolkata tramcar.Kolkata is the only city in India where tram transportation is working.Tramcars are traveling on kolkata streets from 1873.It’s feel like a fairytale experience going back in past realizing how was life in old colonial British rule, cause the infrastructure of the tramcar has not changed since then.

It’s unique experience one can have if you really want to feel the essence of kolkata.tram car is the best example of environment friendly transportation but i think in this fast metro life people may not prefer such a slow transportation.
When i asked Harshal that,” i wanna have a ride in tramcar…!! ”so he was like ,”ohh its just a mini train..!! ”i forced him to take a ride in tramcar cause, being in kolkata and not experiencing tram car i think our journey will not somehow harshal got ready to travel in tramcar just for my wish …and getting in that tram car for that first time i really felt as if i went in years ago era.I think government should take necessary renovation in tram car so that it will enhance the experience of the first time travelers.

As soon as we get in to the Museum the guide gives some instructions such as please do not touch the statue and all, which i think its necessary or else people may exploit  the beauty of statue.First we saw Kapil Dev’s  statue and it was so real we cant express we just kept staring at it.later on we saw Mahatma Gandhi, Dr.Ambedkar,Shivaji Maharaja, Hitler, Saddam  Dr.Thambe, Mohammed Rafi and Prabhu Deva,Angelina Joli ,A.R.Rehman, Mitchel Jackson,Mother Teresa and many more.

We were so eager to took the photographs with each and every statue thinking that,we might never meet the personalities in real so we fulfill our wish by standing besides these statues and capturing our photos with them.I was really surprised by the great artist work by the man behind of this measum,Mr. Sunil Kandalloor. The wax work is amazing and replica of the celebrities.

Our recommendation if you are visiting Lonavla do visit this place.

Next day early morning we reached to the in local can have two option to visit inside the park with elephant safari or Jeep safari.First we took elephant safari we were quiet late since we reached at around 10pm in the park though Our guest house owner informed earlier that reach as early as you can reach because it is the best time to get to see many Rhino, deers, birds and tiger(if you are lucky enough).
while going on elephant safari in the park i was quiet surprised that their were villagers houses who stay their inside of the park..!! can you believe it …i mean they don’t have fear about tigers, rhino’s may be they must be used to all these wildlife animals.luckily we spotted rhino it was quiet far so couldn’t get the closer look.

We couldn’t spotted much so again we decided to take the Jeep safari this time we got binoculars also.we got to see many birds, deers, elephant, and Rhino also but i wanted much closer view which i was not able to get. While going in jeep safari we asked our driver that,”have you ever saw tigers?”  he said ,”yes many times..!!!” again we asked him what to do if he came across to our jeep..?? he laughed and said ,”nothing he will do what he wanna do..!!”

While returning from park i got to see one of the closer view of Rhino and i was so happy…this time i took the video so that it can mesmorised our journey whole lifetime.
